The Pharmacy and Poisons Board’s Head of Good Distribution Practices, Mr. Julius Kaluai, accompanied by a team of seven colleagues, delivered a strong message on behalf of the board. He emphasized the critical need for compliance with established guidelines, highlighted opportunities for collaboration between KPA members and the board, and outlined key areas for strengthening efforts to eliminate unqualified practice and practitioners from the sector.
Mr. Kaluai, emphasized their commitment to collaborating with professionals in fostering a supportive and friendly regulatory environment.
During the plenary session, KPA Nairobi Branch through the Branch Secretary~Mr. Cletus Otieno, called on the board to adopt a differentiated approach on all qualified professionals; that the board should transition from a purely enforcement-focused approach (punitive actions, heavy-handed policing) to one centered on implementation and service delivery—collaborating with industry professionals, guiding compliance, and fostering a supportive operational environment. Mr. Cletus further urged the board to instead enforce more punitive actions and measures on all unqualified personnel and unregistered pharmacy outlets in the country.
