Student Mentorship Program
As a branch, one of the programs we are keen on is ensuring that we mentor those who are joining the pharmacy profession to enable them to have the capacity to offer pharmaceutical excellence. To allow us to effectively achieve this; KPA Nairobi Branch has mapped all the 4 Diploma in Pharmacy/ Pharmaceutical technology training institutions (KMTC, TUK, Kabete National Polytechnic & Nairobi Technical Training Institute) and created a yearly schedule on how we are conducting the mentorship program.
Periodically Reviewed Topics
We have also come up with topics of interest that are reviewed periodically.
The mentorship topics include:
1) Community Pharmacy Practice.
2) Pharmaceutical Marketing.
3) Pharmacy Practice & Regulation.
4) Job market and Networking opportunities.
5) Industrial pharmacy- manufacturing.
6) KPA value propositions.
To kick start the program, we began with the KMTC Nairobi Campus, the largest Diploma in Pharmacy training institution in Eastern & Central Africa, where we had a full day of interactions with the finalists. Over 70 students were reached and over 60% of them have since expressed interest in joining the association.
At the KPA_Nairobi Branch, we do not limit mentorship to students only but also identify relevant areas of interest for our members in-service. Iron sharpens iron, it is our conviction that by holding each other’s hands, we are going soar high and even greater heights in pharmacy practice.
