We’re proud to highlight the successful completion of Family Planning (FP) Hybrid Curriculum Training for members of the Kenya Pharmaceutical Association (KPA)—a key milestone in strengthening the role of community pharmacies in reproductive health service delivery across Kenya. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗣𝗔 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗼𝘀, 𝗞𝗮𝗷𝗶𝗮𝗱𝗼, 𝗞𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂, 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶, 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗸, 𝗡𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗿𝘂, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗶𝘀𝗵𝘂.

The training combined self-paced online learning with an intensive in-person practicum, ensuring participants gained both theoretical and hands-on experience.
✅ 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭 – 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: Participants completed comprehensive online modules and received course completion slips to mark this first stage.
✅ 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟮 – 𝗜𝗻-𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗺: Participants engaged in interactive sessions with expert trainers, gaining practical skills and discussing best practices. They also met with various Sub-County Health Management Teams to establish vital linkages for ongoing mentorship and technical support.
✅ 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟯 – 𝗢𝗻-𝘁𝗵𝗲-𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Participants were attached to practicum health facilities, where they perfected their ability to:
a) Administer DMPA-IM and DMPA-SC injections.
b) Conduct effective client counselling.
c) Collaborate with FP nurses and facility teams in real clinical settings.

Following the training, participants will be mapped and linked to their respective public health facilities, ensuring continued guidance through their Sub-County Health Management Teams. During this mentorship period, participants will be required to document their practical experiences in logbooks. These records will form part of the assessment process leading to the issuance of a 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, signifying successful completion of the full training program.

This hybrid training approach equips pharmaceutical technologists with the confidence and competence to deliver high-quality family planning services, expanding access and strengthening Kenya’s primary healthcare system. The training was made possible through our collaboration with inSupply Health, The Ministry of Health, various County Health Management Teams, and other partners.
